Better Dependability of the T900

July 17, 2017

The two main vertical lift platforms of the U.S. Army – the UH-60 Black Hawk and the AH-64 Apache helicopters – are using engines that can trace their lineage to the Vietnam War. Modern deployments need engines that can add safe, dependable, efficiency in dry and desert environments.

The T900 being developed by the Advanced Turbine Engine Company (ATEC) uses a dual-spool design which allows the rear compressor to deliver more power and spin faster than the front turbine reducing the scouring caused by sand being ingested by the turbine.

This will lead to fewer failures and lowered maintenance costs while providing more power and lower fuel consumption.
